It seems like every producer nowadays is making music using Ableton Live, myself included. This makes sense since Live has grown to become such a versatile and capable program where one is capable of composing, recording, producing, mixing, mastering, and performing without ever having to resort to another program. However, there was a time when Ableton Live wasn’t so dominant. It was during this time that I used a completely different program to make my tracks and it’s called Audiomulch. In this program you can take several built-in contraptions (like effects, sample players, or mixers) and connect them to each other anyway you like. This allowed for the possibility of some pretty unusual and interesting sounds and effects. Combined with VST/VSTi support that allowed me to use FL Studio directly in the program I was able to record all of the crazy sounds on the Resurface EP. Here is a snapshot of my setup for the song “Rise”:

In fact, every track I recorded from “Bernard’s Song” all the way up to the Resurface EP was done in Audiomulch. So you can you see why I am so excited that Audiomulch 2.0 is coming out May 1st 2009. Seeing as how the new Ableton 8 is coming out soon too, you can expect some ridiculous music coming from me in 2010.

This Friday starts my new monthly DJ night with Micah Vellian. It’s called FLAT OUT and will happen at the Rock and Roll Hotel every SECOND FRIDAY of the month. We’ll be taking over the whole joint with several other local DC DJs. This is not to be missed. Here is all the info:
